For you, I'm willing
Been rummaging through my toys, shoes, DVDs (mostly sports) and jersey collections lately. In case you didn't know, I have an expensive hobby of collecting vintage stuff. Some of them were given to me as gifts, but most of them were bought. Never realised how much I've spent on my 'treasured belongings' all these years until I started listing them out and counting them one by one. You'll be amazed, just like I was. I still am actually.
Here goes the summary of my collections:
1. Corinthian soccer/basketball figurines - 91 of them (est value - $1,200)
2. Soccer & basketball jerseys - 20 of them. That's a staggering $1,700 spent.
3. Shoes - 4 pairs of Air Jordan sneakers (AJ III, V, IV and XI). These were bought in during my teenage years when I was crazy about the Chicago Bulls and that was some 8-10 years back. I really saved up for these sneakers you know. That's another $600.
4. DVDs - Mostly sports documentaries on Liverpool, Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan. I also have 2 box-set collections of the Rocky and Bruce Lee movies series. Est value of these - $550
5. My one and only set of comic collection - Slam Dunk. Was crazy over this during my sec school days. I skipped meals to buy them ok. That probably explains why i was so skinny back then. Lol. Adds up to about $170. Looks peanuts right now but 12 years ago that $170 made me look rich. ^ ^
And I still have not included my hundreds of CDs and DVDs. I think that's easily another $1,500 there). So if I were to add everything, I spent nearly $6k on my 'treasures'! So that was where all my $$ went to.. -.-"
How ironic. A finance person can't plan his own finances well. What a joke!
Anyway, having intentions to sell off some of my stuff. Did some research on eBay and I think I can fetch pretty good prices for some of my collections, esp the rare figurines and jerseys.
Why would I want to do this you might ask. Was very inspired by Baoshun Laoshi's testimonial during TQ last saturday and I told myself that this could the time to show God how much I love Him. If you know me well enough, I don't easily let go of the things that I like. However I am willing to take up this test of Faith.
God, let me do something for you. Doesn't have to be anything spectacular. Sai gang also can!
