Dread going to work lately. Haven't had this kind of feeling for quite some time already. Well, its not that I am losing interest with what I am doing. Maybe its the people? *shrug* Yah, i'm pretty sure thats why.

On 15 April 1989, over 25,000 Liverpool fans travelled to Hillsborough, Sheffield for the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest. 96 of them never returned.
Today marked the 18th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. I could still vividly recall that very night 18years ago as I witnessed one of Britain's worst-ever sporting disaster on TV.
Being an ardent Liverpool fan at the age of just 9, I was eagerly anticipating the FA Cup Semi-final clash between 2 of the top teams in the 80s, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, in my parents' room. I stayed up late for that game as such match-ups hardly came by and was not to be missed. Barely 5mins into the game, a commotion broke out and the game was being suspended. Totally oblivious of the main cause behind the stoppage, i got pissed off and irritated. "好不容易等到球赛开始了，现在无端端干吗要斩停呢？" The game was eventually called off and postponed to a later date. And I only came to know what exactly happened from the papers the next day.
At kickoff, more than 2,000 Liverpool fans had still not got into the stadium. A police spokesman said orders were given for the gate to the stand to be opened because they believed that the pressure of the fans outside the ground was "a danger to life" (how ironic). But as the fans rushed in, those already there were pushed forward and crushed against the high, wired-topped safety fences. However, it was more than 5mins into the game before what was happening became apparent to those not in the Leppings Lane stand. Then, alerted by fans spilling through a narrow gap onto the pitch or being lifted by others into the seating areas above, a policeman ran onto the field and ordered the referee to stop the game.
Improved safety measures recently introduced at grounds to keep rival fans apart meant , for many, there was no escape from the crush. Bodies were lifted forward and laid out on the pitch - many of them teenagers and children. In all, 96 died, at least 200 were injured, about 20 seriously. Some fans said bad ticket allocation contributed to the disaster. Liverpool had more fans than Nottingham Forest but were given 6,000 tickets less and allocated to the smaller Leppings Lane stand.
Who is to be blamed? The police who gave the orders to open the gate to the stand? The 2,000 odd travelling supporters who pushed their way in to the already packed stand? The person in charge of allocating the tickets? Or the management which introduced the safety measures at the Hillsborough Stadium? I really don't know.

Took a cab home just now. The uncle kinda lame and said some weird things during the 20-min drive. Luckily I was on the phone with LQ for most of the time, therefore didn't suffer as much as I think I would have. LOL.. It started when he suddenly jammed his brake to avoid 闯红灯at one of the junctions. He said something like this: "对不起hor，刚才我踩brake是因为不要闯红灯。这里有camera,闯红灯要扣十二分还要罚款$200。Bo hua. 所以我踩brake的时候你要准备一下lor. " I was like...how am I supposed to know when you'll zham brake?? -.-"
Nvm, then we came to a left-turning T-junction, so I told the uncle: "Uncle,麻烦你前面交通灯转左" Uncle said:"转右har?" I said:"不是，前面转左。这边哪里可以转右？" Diaoz....
The ultimate one is yet to come. Total cab fare was $10.60 so I gave the uncle exact change. The uncle asked me: "需要找钱给你吗?" Give up, so I just got off the cab... ROFL..
Lately kept coming across ppl saying weird things..just like our dear Alan cracked the ultimate joke of the year so far. Wenjie, the youths and I were having dinner at Causeway Pt mac last Sunday and we were talking about siblings. Then I told them actually I wanted a young sis, but my mum didn't want to. Then at this very moment our Mr Alan immediately said: "Orr, 所以你的妈妈才生你姐姐right?" -..-""""""""""

After 6 days in Taipei, an update at last. Have been wanting to update for the past few nights actually, but ended up watching TV instead. *lol* They have 100 over channels here in Taiwan, all FOC! Singapore has like what? Ch5, Ch8, Ch U, Kids Central, Suria, CNA. 6 channels-pathetic. -.-
Weather here has been very unstable. First day I touched down, 22 deg. Next few days pretty much like Singapore, abt 28-31 deg. Then last night it started to rain and before I knew it when I woke up this morning, it was like 15 deg! Drastic changes. Luckily I came prepared, else sure to fall sick due to the sudden weather change.
So far not much time for shopping. Was back in office last Sunday. Managed to visit a couple of hotspots such as 西门町 and 饶河夜市 last Saturday. I think I'm really getting old. -.- Can still remember how me and my buddies used to 'chiong' Taipei during our army days and shopped till we dropped. But now? Don't find these places as interesting as before anymore. Except maybe for the food ;) So far I bought NOTHING. Wanted to visit 士林夜市 tonight but its raining leh, sianz -.- Still got Tues, Wed and Thurs. Hopefully can go during one of these nights and maybe buy something back for my Princess, who actually fell sick last weekend. Maybe missed me too much ba..hehe...U feeling better 了吗? :)
Alrighty, need to get back to work for now. So far work progress still ok, not too good but not that bad either. Pretty inefficient today. Need to 'bia' a bit now and tomorrow, else I doubt can wrap things up by Thurs. Taiwan office will be closed on Friday due to 清明节. Tentatively return flight is scheduled for Fri afternoon. Hopefully can push for the Fri morning flight, else waste half a day here bo hua. -.-
